Beady Eye...

Just a quick note to let you know that I'm taking part in a pop-up gallery organised by Beady Eye Art. It will be on 5th-8th October 2011 at Artisan Restaurant, Crosspool, Sheffield. There will be a selection of prints and paintings from local artists (inc. the immensely talented Zoe Badger).

You can find out more about it at www.beadyeyeart.com and at their facebook event page.

Should be fun!

Upcoming Aug/Sept events

Hello

I thought 'd post up a few events that I'm taking part in over August and September.

1. Devonshire Market - Sat 27th August 2011
On the bank holiday weekend, there will be a sizeable market happening on Devonshire Green in Sheffield; lots of art, craft, food, gifts and, apparently now, live music too! The last market there was a lot of fun, so I'm looking forward to it!

2. Art In The Gardens - Sat 3rd/ Sun 4th September 2011
I'll be selling my work at this event for the first time. An established art-only fair held in the beautiful Botanical Gardens in Sheffield. It is apparently the largest outdoor art exhibition in the north of England! My pal Lianne Mellor (Mellorware) will also be selling there.

3. Saltaire Makers Fair - Saturday 10th September 2011
Part of the famous Saltaire Festival, a one-off quality fair based in Victoria Hall, Saltaire, Yorkshire.

4. Crucible Craft Workshop - Sat 17th September 2011
The Crucible Theatre in Sheffield have decided (in their wisdom!) to host a series of craft workshops from September. I'm running the first one, on 17th Sept, 10.15am-4.15pm. I'll be teaching linocut printing. The class will be suitable for beginners and also people who have dabbled a little in printing before. If you do want to book a place (only 8 available), call the Crucible on 0114 201 3831 or email events@sheffieldtheatres.co.uk

5. Mary's Marvellous Vintage & Craft Market - Sat 24th September 2011
A new market in Sheffield, held in a really great location; St Mary's Church on Bramall Lane. 50 stalls of quality arts, craft and vintage items, plus some seriously tasty cakes. This place has a reputation for such things!

Thats it, for now. Oh, I have made some more printworks mugs, so will be taking those along to the fairs/markets!

So to August. I'm selling at two fairs/markets.

Firstly there is 'Reetsweet' in Leeds. Its a 2-day craft extravaganza at the Corn Exchange on Sat 6th and Sunday 7th August, 11am-5pm.

Secondly there is the Devonshire Market in Sheffield on Sat 27th August. It is a Farmers Market type event, with all sorts of art, food, clothes and other goodies.

Tramlines Festival commission

Thought you might like to see a recent commission I've had from Sheffield's Tramlines Festival. It is for a folk-ish event taking place in Endcliffe Park on 23/24 July called 'Folk Forest'.

Leisure Painter Magazine

I've been commissioned to write an article about the basics of linocut printing for 'Leisure Painter' magazine. The featured issue is out now (Summer 2011). It explains what equipment you need, how to compose your image, printing methods and hints and tips.

I'll be following this up in the near future with an article about more advances linocut techniques.

Pheasants and The Corner Gallery

Pheasants
Just completed a new poster-print. Its of a couple of pheasants I chased around the countryside in North Wales a few weeks ago. Nifty fellows they were too.

It is available in my Folksy shop, and also at my future fairs.

Corner Gallery
Secondly, there is a new gallery opened up in Sheffield which is displaying a selection of my work. It is called The Corner Gallery, within The Emporium (just off Broadfield Road, S8). Its a small, but perfectly formed, space with lots of interested contemporary arts and crafts, worth a visit!

Thats all for now!
